Riyu Takai prides herself on her rigid routine until a crowded hallway collision with the antisocial Syeon Sahani triggers an impossible phenomenon. As their hands brush, the world blurs and Riyu is suddenly flooded with the sensory details of Syeon’s lonely apartment, while Syeon is struck by the phantom sensation of Riyu’s mother’s voice. Disoriented and gasping for air, they find themselves standing in the school corridor with their own identities flickering like a dying lightbulb. Riyu chooses to forcibly grab Syeon’s wrist in a desperate attempt to reverse the effect, only to find the connection deepening and a fragment of a childhood memory slipping from her grasp forever. The chapter ends with them realizing they are trapped in a feedback loop where every touch steals a piece of who they were.
