Adventure · Sci-Fi

One hundred years after nuclear fire destroyed the old world, humanity has rebuilt itself into something colder. The surviving population is divided between enormous technological Settlements and the lawless Wastelands surrounding them. Inside the walls, children study cyber-engineering and Techno-Martial Arts, where biomechanical armor, neural interfaces, artificial muscles, and weapons are fused with combat disciplines. Outside the walls live the Scrappers. They survive by harvesting technological waste discarded by the privileged. Their bodies are scarred by radiation, their settlements are routinely attacked by evolved creatures, and their lives are considered expendable by the ruling Factions. Seventeen-year-old Ren Vance was born among them. Ren possesses no prestigious family name, no military implants, no expensive combat armor, and no formal education beyond what he has taught himself from broken machines. Yet he possesses something far more dangerous: an extraordinary understanding of machines. His dream is considered absurd. He wants to surpass the legendary Grandmaster Rank, the highest known level of Techno-Martial Arts. But Ren intends to accomplish something the modern world considers impossible. He wants to make the machine obey the martial artist instead of allowing the machine to control the martial artist. His life changes when he discovers an ancient pre-war data-core containing a forgotten combat system based not on cybernetic assistance, but on kinetic flow. The discovery eventually takes him inside Aegis Tech-Martial Academy, where he encounters elite warriors, political heirs, military experiments, corporate conspiracies, and Valeria Vance, the daughter of a powerful Military Commander. As Ren grows stronger, he discovers that the monsters attacking the Wasteland are not simply products of radiation. Someone is controlling them. And someone inside the Settlements has been searching for the same ancient technology Ren accidentally discovered. The deeper Ren digs, the more he realizes that the old world may not have died in the nuclear war. Perhaps it was deliberately buried. And perhaps the greatest weapon humanity ever created was never a machine. It was a martial artist capable of becoming one with steel. POWER SYSTEM The Six Known Combat Ranks 1. SCRAPPER No formal augmentation required. 2. APPRENTICE Basic neural synchronization and biomechanical reinforcement. 3. WARRIOR Can synchronize weapons, armor, and nervous system during combat. 4. MASTER Can manipulate bio-electric energy deliberately. 5. GRANDMASTER Can maintain complete synchronization between body, weapon, armor, and neural network. 6. IRONWRIGHT A theoretical rank. The practitioner doesn't simply use technology. The practitioner creates technology through combat. Ren will eventually discover that this rank existed before the nuclear apocalypse. The world erased it from history.
