NYX: The Boy of Destruction — Chapter 2: The Fugitive
All chapters of NYX: The Boy of Destruction
After the destruction of the Veil facility, Nyx is officially declared a fugitive and classified as an extreme threat. The Veil immediately locks down the surrounding region and begins searching for him, while Azara orders her sister Seraya, the Veil's Tracker, to hunt him down. But Nyx has no idea how the outside world works. He has spent his entire life imprisoned, experimented on, and isolated from society. He doesn't know where to go, what people are like, or even what freedom is supposed to feel like. As he moves through the outskirts of the city, he encounters ordinary civilians for the first time. Some are frightened by him, some are curious, and others recognize the Veil's wanted notices and realize who he is. Meanwhile, Seraya begins following Nyx's trail. The chapter becomes a cat-and-mouse pursuit: Nyx desperately tries to stay ahead while slowly discovering the world outside his cell, and Seraya begins realizing that the boy she's hunting may be very different from the dangerous fugitive the Veil described. By the end of the chapter, Nyx escapes into an unfamiliar region beyond the city, while Seraya discovers his location. The hunt has officially begun.
