Mystic World — Chapter 3: Faceless Hunter

All chapters of Mystic World

Bunny Magic barely escapes the alley as the hunter, a faceless figure in industrial gear, sweeps the area with a handheld sensor that tracks her glowing aura. Exhausted and unable to see her own reflection, she stumbles through the rain-slicked city streets, struggling to suppress the light leaking from her fingertips. She attempts to hide in a subway station, but the act of passing through a turnstile triggers a surge in her magic that leaves a trail of glowing, crystalline dust on the floor. Cornered on a platform, she decides to intentionally sacrifice a memory of her childhood in her home world to dampen her aura and mask her presence from the tracker. The hunter reaches the platform, his boots echoing rhythmically against the tiles, and stops directly in front of the pillar behind which she is hiding. As the sensor in his hand turns from cold blue to a searing, target-locked red, Bunny Magic realizes her desperate attempt to hide has only made her signature more distinct.
